inspired by Roo's blog.http://dearhsdogblog.blogspot.com/ We proudly adopted Brodan from the wonderful staff @ the Barrie,On. SPCA 01/24/11. Brodan now lives with my wife & I. Brodan's father was a German Shorthaired Pointer and his mother was an American Pitbull. He's almost 12 yrs old. Still, faster than a cheetah & more powerful than a locomotive. Loves frisbee!

Kim, Santa & Me
I was honoured to represent the Barrie SPCA. Every year the Georgian Mall raises money for the SPCA by having Pet Photos with Santa. This year the Georgian Mall presented a cheque for $ 2450. Good news all around. The Best part I got to meet Kim & Santa.
Big Kiss for Santa
Santa didn't realize my kisses are a little on the wet side. I know he liked it. Santa liked me and I like Santa.
My picture with Kim
First of all, I gave a big wet kiss to Kim from the SPCA. It has been almost one year since I have seen Kim. I was so excited!

YES, i said.
[Brodan speaking] i'm sleeping my afternoon away, when i get this phone call. It's our local Shopping Centre (Georgian Mall) and the Barrie SPCA. They want me to do a photo shoot with Santa Claus for the newspaper. Me? Well, I said "YES!" Thinking Santa will have treats.
What pose should i work on? My regal look? My "oh is me" look? My "happy go luck" look? What to wear ?

Brodan & Me watch "Marley and Me"
B-Man and I watched "Marley and Me" last night. I confess, I got a little teary eyed at the end. Dog lovers, if you haven't seen this movie, treat yourself.

How I Spent My Sunday
Brodan here. I'd like to share with you my Sunday ( November 13th ). After eating my "Taste of the Wild Bison flavoured" breakfast, I decided to hang around and help Dad with his breakfast. Turns out I like pancakes and maple syrup. Mom woke so we had some good conversation over a cup of coffee. Then I heard Mom & Dad speak about a Trail walk. Yesss! Out to the Simcoe Forest Trails we went. The pardise of the pines, the emerald moss, the mud, the coolness of the creek, stuff I like. We must have walked 6 km.
Later that evening, one of my favourite places to be. By the fireplace while Mom scratches my ears. Folks, I'm loving life. Brodan signing off.

Therapeutic
Sun in my face, I was meditating, until you took my photo. The Cottage on October 22nd. This is what it's all about. Peace and quiet. No neighbours. No firecrackers. No ATV's. Just the sound of the wind rustling through the trees and the roar of the Madawaska River. My peeps doing yard work and me, well, I'm kicking back and taking five. Soon it will be treat time, then perhaps a nap. Loving it.

Nocturnal Creature 0 Brodan 1
In Ontario, Brodan our beloved GSP/Am Pitbull has 800 sq.ft. of freedom, known as our private backyard. NC [Nocturnal Creature] decided to take up residence underneath our deck. Sleeping it was. During our late afternoon game of frisbee, Brodan detected a whiff. A foreign visitor had perpetrated our border [without proper papers].
The game of frisbee ended abruptly. Border patrol was called. Search & Destroy was called. My worst fears was yet another skunk. I could hear & slightly see the encounter. I waited for the spray ; the awful pungent odour. It didn't come. Why? Oh my, please don't let it be the neighbours cat? Albert's cat? That would be a Shakespearean Tragedy. l
Finally after thirty seconds, Brodan surfaces looking unharmed, and no detection of pepe le pu. With B-Man safely in the confines of our house, I take my first look under the deck, where upon staring right back at me with eyes fully dilated is,.. Mr. Racoon. Fudge!

The Case of the Socks that moved?
One of Brodan's secondary interests are socks, especially folded or bundled socks. If B-Man spots my running socks on the stairs by the front door he will on occasion hide them on me ; i think to prevent me from going running.
Oh ya, the Brod-master is scholaristic intelligent. Wednesday evening my wife and I went to our Yoga class and she left her athletic socks on the the third step by the front door.
One hour later. Arriving back home my wife finds her socks placed on our kitchen table top. Now if an Extraterrestrial being from another galaxy, has a the capability of moving items such as socks through thin air, that is one thing. However, the socks my wife found on the kitchen table top were on the moist side, suggestion.................the B-Man was at work. Mystery solved my dear Holmes. The B-Man of the Baskervilles.

Beware Pitbull on Potassium
Cantelope, Honey Dew, Muskmelon, Peaches, and Brodan's favourite next to peanutbutter & Nutella sandwiches..bananas.
A startling new marker, recent craze if you will, and becoming a glowing phenomenom, the yellow banana, not too ripe. Here's the recipe.
Taste of the Wild - Buffalo flavour dog food carefully sliced thinned with half a banana. Slightly stirred. Or slightly shaken. Serve. Reccommended servings one dog ; one breakfast.

My sniffer
I can outsmell a bloodhound. My weapon of choice, my nose. The nose knows. I love to sniff. I love sniff walks. I love the cottage ; new & wonderful smells. The river, the wild grass, the beach and bear dung.
Playing in the Madawaska River
I love drinking water and it pretty doesn't much matter where it comes from. BTW, the river was up for the Madawaska Kanue Club.

What's worst than a SKunk ?
Two Skunks. Brodan my pal, I saved your life this morning. You may not know it, but I did. I know you wanted to get out in the yard and say "hi". Trust me. Those two varmints were going to say hi back in a different fashion.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for Ice Cream
Brodan gives two paws up to the new Kawartha Lakes Dairy on Anne St.,[ Barrie, On]. The new retailer was steady friday evening just after the dinner hour, with a variety of generations checking out the wares. Mom & Dad each ordered a "small" cone that came to a total of $ 7.10 After sample tasting each, Brodan gave his flavour prefence to "Death by Chocolate" over the "Pralines & Cream" double scooper.

Why Us?
I love going for walks with Dad. I do. I really do. I get the part that I have to wear a muzzle because people just don't understand that I'm so dang lovable...I DON'T get why these things have to be so uncomfortable! My mom took my measurements (she's awesome!) and hunted in every pet store in town to find something that both fit me and allowed me to breathe better in the hot weather and get a drink whenever I needed one. Hunh. No such luck. Why is it they make laws that I have to wear one of these contraptions yet they don't make them comfy or glamourous? I know I'm a handsome dude (my people tell me every day...even my grandma thinks I'm beautiful!), but you sure can't tell with this thing strapped to my head. Just because it's a sunny, yellow colour and has a little 'monkey' charm on it doesn't mean it's flattering. I'm sad that I have to wear this when I go out (I DO appreciate Dad for looking after me, walking me and letting me explore the world!). I think the people who made these things would be sad if I made them go for walks with their mouths closed. I wonder if they've ever wondered what it would be like to have to breathe through only your nose or take a drink? ... I don't think they have.

Step. 2.
As your Self Doggy Wash begins to take form, continuously stir the bath with your front paw. It impresses the neighbours and prevents those ugly skum lines from taking place.
New Franchise Business by Brodan
My name is Brodan. I'd like to demonstrate my Self Doggy Bath concept. Step 1, turn on the garden hose and fill rubber maid tub (drink as you need to).

New Trick not quite there yet.
Mastering the coffee pot, to pour me a second cup in the morning has been more challenging than we both imagined. Practice does makes perfect. Might seem a stretch but its the spoon and the stirring that is giving Brodan the most difficulty.

Special Kind of Treats
No, they are not store bought. Mom, baked me my very own "treats", in the shape of a mini-dog-bone. Although they are tiny, i absolutely love them. Mom, please bake some more.

How I spent June 29th
Spent the day with Dad which is alright. However, he took me with him to the City dump to get rid of some non-collectibles. [lol]. Lucky me, i got to spend two hours inside the landfill waste site as the exit scale had broken and Management was directing both in & out traffic thru the entrance scale. In short we were there too long. Thanks to the ladies in the booth for giving me a milk bone. :)

I'm such a good boy...Mom gave me a treat because I was so good after she absolutely INSISTED on a manicure after we played frisbee in the muck. Don't tell anyone - but I think she should prob'ly do the same thing! HaHa! She was wearing dad's flip flops and now it's her turn to take a dip in the bucket!!!!!!!!!!

Woe is me...
...things just aren't the same around here. Dad's gone on a journey across the states and didn't even consider taking me with him. Imagine that! Here I am at home with mom. It's not all that bad...she plays frisbee with me, throws my squeeky ball and tucks me in at night. Guess what? She even has a countdown on the fridge calendar so I know when Dad's coming home!!!!!!
p.s. This is a picture of me sunbathing...guess things are pretty good after all!

Confession by Brodan
Ok, it was me who ate Mom's brand new plant from Bradford Greenhouse. There are theories that the wind blew it over, the baby squirrels got into it, and lastly, highly unlikely is our 80 year old neighbour hopped the 6' fence, walke3d over and kicked it over with his workboots. note: as soon as i learn how to operate Dad's camera ; i'll take a shot of the evidence.

Brodan to Dad
Dad, first when you take photos of me from that angle it makes my long legs look short. Not sure how i feel about that. Number two, do you realize that there are now two frisbees behind the wood pile? How long until you retrieve them? Number three thanks for the new ball, it's different and i love it. Number four, are we going for a walk soon or are you going to just keep typing ? Number five, you know its the May long weekend ? Number six, can we do the trails again soon? Number seven, i do realize that you don't like it when i eat mud and grass in the back yard.
Com'on lets go for a walk. love ya, Brodan.

Exhibit "B"
The infamous dirty frisbee. It's a frisbee Mom. Can i help it if the neighbour has his sprinkler system going and my frisbee becomes untidy. Having fun, Brodan.
Happy Face :)
My frisbee has a "Happy Face" on it. Except when it is covered in mud. You see our neighbour has just laid down new sod and his sprinkler system is running plenty these past few days. Our side has a tendency to become a little mucky, so what's a dog to do,... if my frisbee gets muddy.
Chasing down the yelow disc
When Dad can throw it straight, i can usually catch it. But that's ok. I love that yellow disc. I brought it into the house yesterday morning and somehow it disappeared underneath the woven kitchen table rug. You think i could get it out. Even when i barked. I think the frisbee is suppose to stay outside. When Mom came home from Teaching last night she inquired, "why my frisbee was covered in so much mud?". Hey Mom, it's a toy, not a sparkly object you wear on your finger.
